| The striking silhouette is today one of the landmarks of the city of Berlin. Inside, you will find permanent and special exhibitions on current topics covering all sorts topics including art, architecture and modern design. The museum building itself was created in the Bauhaus founder's (Walter Gropius') later years, originally planned for Darmstadt but built in a modified form in Berlin. |

Largely neglected during the Nazi and communist eras, the building was declared part of the UNESCO world cultural heritage in 1996. After its restoration in 2006, it will be returned to its former use.
Since 1999, the Bauhaus foundation in Dessau has been inviting artists and designers to participate in interdisciplinary and intercultural workshops - the so-called "Bauhaus Kolleg". |

|
In 1937, under the direction of the Bauhaus master Lászlo Moholy-Nagy, the New Bauhaus Chicago (since 1944 Institute of Design) was founded, which was the only place where the training program developed by Walter Gropius was resumed and developed further.
